Military medals tend to say volumes about a person's military service. For this reason, we always strive to display military medals and military ribbons in the correct order as originally worn.
Each branch of the military has an established hierarchy of how medals and ribbons are to be worn. At Keepsakes, we strive to follow this hierarchy when we present them.
A few quick facts about US military medals and ribbons:
Every medal awarded has a corresponding "ribbon". The ribbon is a small rectangular bar worn on the left of the uniform and it displays the same colors as the ribbon attached to the top of the actual medal..
Round medals relate to an element of general service (participation in an action or campaign, or a goal achieved) and non-round medals are for specific events, such as bravery (for example the Purple Heart medal is heart shaped, the Bronze Star is a five pointed star).
