Would you like to put together a tribute to someone who served in the military? Their discharge papers are a good starting point. Generally, this will give a summary of what branch they served in, what unit or division they were a part of, medals they received, and where they served. If you cannot find their discharge papers, try the county court house. You may also be able to obtain discharge records from the National Archives, but the process is more involved, and will take longer.
Once you have obtained details about their service you must find the items you want to frame. It is not uncommon that original medals, military patches, and insignia, are lost over time. You can request replacements from your US. Senators or your U.S. Representative (based on discharge records), there are also a variety of sources on the internet to find reproductions. One of our favorites is Medals of America. We have always found their reproductions to be perfect matches for the originals.
