Military Shadow Boxes
As a Captain in the United States Army, he fought in World War II —was captured —but survived the POW camps to come home and tell his son the story. To honor a father's sacrifice, his son had us assemble this tribute to his father's service.
Framing details: Solid cherry box and frame. Frame hinged to box with brass piano hinge. All conservation grade materials. Brass plaque holds name, rank, and dates of service.
This customer's brother was a co-pilot on a B-24 based in Italy. His plane was lost over Germany and he did not survive. At her request we constructed this shadow box to honor his memory and his sacrifice.

This gentleman served in an Armoured division under Patton's Third Army. He survived the war, and in the end he was just glad it was all over. He never wanted to talk about it.

The daughter-in-law of this Airman worked tirelessly to gather details about his service as a gunner on a B-25 Mitchell. We added the final touch, bringing all her hard work together. She has much to be proud of, he received the Purple Heart for war wounds, and the Air Medal for bravery. His unit also received a Presidential Unit Citation.

Shadow boxes do not always have to be squares or rectangles. The traditional triangular fold of the American flag lends itself well to this design. Employees wanted to recognize a reservist co-worker, just back from Iraq.
